Every Filipino Australian Kid Will Defend These Snacks To The End, And Here's The Definitive Ranking

Filipino iterations of vinegar are always sooooo sour. Growing up, my dad would feed me these with rice as a trick. The smell is PUNGENT. 

When someone is headed to the Asian grocery store and asks if I want anything without fail I'll say, "Surprise me! But NOT with the blue coloured Clover Chips." 

That's all. 

My mum would tell me stories about eating these in her childhood so, when I decided to try them I thought they would be great. They have such a strong sweet corn flavour which might be other people's favourite!

Heat these bad boys up in the microwave for a warm, garlicy crunch. There was always a packet (or four) of these in the cupboard.

If Ding Dong didn't have dried peas in it, it would've ranked higher but alas, they haven't taken the green monstrosities out. 

I have no overwhelming feedback about BBQ Chippy. They're pretty smoky. 

I didn't have a Reese's peanut butter cup until Costco came to Australia. But I did grow up with these pieces of peanut-chocolate goodness. If you ate them too fast, you'd need a glass of water immediately because they're bloody crumbly. 

Let's just say that these are like the Filipino version of Cheeto Puffs. The best part of eating these was getting to the bottom of the packet and picking up the crumbles or clumps of cheese flavouring. 

Finding these crushed up at the bottom of my school bag when I needed a snack was a godsend. Every. Single. Time. 

They're not your typical saltine cracker, Skyflakes are next level. A packet of these can be paired with anything from scrambled eggs to peanut butter and jam. 

Doesn't matter which flavour you pick up, these are always going to hit the spot. 

Saltine crackers and chocolate spread sounds like a rogue combo but I promise you, Magic Creams are delicious. Salty, sweet and crunchy plus, you can share them with friends. 

Eating Prawn Cracker Sticks with rice was a whole meal and you can't tell me otherwise. Bringing these to school and swapping them for a packet of potato chips was always a mistake. 

Serve these to me cold or straight off the shelf and I'd demolish it in 10 seconds. They're refreshing, fun to slurp up and taste delicious and peachy. There's so many other flavours — strawberry, orange, pineapple, lychee and mango — but the peach one is far superior. 

Of all the chocolate wafer sticks in the entire world, these are my favourite. There's just something so childlike about splitting one piece between two friends. 

These aren't your normal cheese flavoured chips. They're soooo addictive. When you bite into one of these potato chips you'll get a subtle hint of garlic with cheese. It's hard to explain but it's almost creamy — think potato bake. 

Have you ever picked up a slice of ham, laid it out flat on a plate, layered it with a Kraft Single (or soft plastic wrapped cheese) then proceeded to roll it up like a sushi roll? Well, that's what these chips taste like. They will stain your hands but they are worth it. 

Pandan is such an underrated flavour and to have it in these wafer sticks was a danger, because they're so snackable. Mixed in with the swirly green cream is coconut, a match made in heaven. As bad as it sounds, we'd pretend these and other flavours were cigarettes and pretend to smoke them. 

No matter how careful you are, eating these will stain your fingers in cheese dust orange. They're so bright, airy and covered in artificial orange flavouring powder. Like a few Filipino cheese flavoured snacks, they're a bit sweet and you can fly through a packet with ease. 

Bretman Rock and I have so many shared interests — chocolate flavoured Pillows is one of them. 

If I could rank these at 1.5 I would. 

It was love at first bite between me and BBQ flavoured Clover Chips. You could compare it to Remy's mindblown reaction to eating cheese and strawberries in Ratatouille. Brain chemistry = altered forever.

I've shared the snack with friends, teachers and family to raving reviews. These little corn shells are herby, crunchy and a little bit sweet. Unlike your normal BBQ flavoured snacks, the flavour profile matches the sugary, smoky soy notes of Filipino charcoal BBQ sticks.
