Recently, I asked the BuzzFeed Community which popular and widely loved TV characters they actually find annoying.
Here are 19 of their top respones:
1. "Eddie Munson from Stranger Things. I found his character very obnoxious, and he was, in my opinion, the worst character in the show."
2. "Phil Dunphy from Modern Family. He constantly makes comments about Clarie's appearance and makes inappropriate comments about Gloria in front of Claire."
3. "It's really a mark of how wildly talented the rest of the cast is, 'cause I can't STAND Jess from New Girl. Everything about her annoys me, and she treats her friends like props she can manipulate around her to live out her 'quirky' fantasies."
4. "Daenarys in Game of Thrones. Talk about nepo babies — she didn't do anything to deserve being the 'mother of dragons' beyond being born into the right family. She was too short-sighted to realize they would hurt innocent people until it happened and too arrogant to keep them safe even while thinking of them as her children."
5. "That would be Gabrielle Solis from Desperate Housewives. Just watching the pilot and the final episode, she just gets worse! Selfish, arrogant, bad mother (she cares about her kid when it's about her)... She seemingly can't take a lesson from when she had money difficulties. The worst thing is that she always gets out of trouble by doing a silly thing, not resolving it."
6. "Melissa from Abbott Elementary. She's such a stereotypical character, overexaggerated, and not funny."
7. "Gonna get some flak for this, but...Michael Scott from The Office. Sure, they toned him down over the years, and he had his moments, but overall, I still find him largely unwatchable."
8. "I did NOT like Jim Halpert from The Office. He was a jerk."
9. "IMO, Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory is EXTREMELY annoying. I do appreciate that his character arc changed for the better as the show progressed, but I still found his selfish and condescending attitude to be a put-off."
10. "Donna from That '70s Show. I don't get why everyone thought Eric was lucky to date her. She was annoying and kind of mean."
11. "Alex Karev from Grey's Anatomy. He didn't grow up nearly as much as people claim he did."
12. "I make no secret about not liking Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City. She insists upon herself."
13. "I absolutely could not stand Jane on Jane the Virgin. She was always yapping about how she's a writer and how she's not hotel staff but a writer... And then she 1) had pretty much zero original ideas once she finished her first book and 2) couldn't write anything even when ideas were not needed, i.e., when Petra asked her to ghostwrite for her."
14. "Sookie from Gilmore Girls is just supremely irritating if you rewatch."
15. "Brooke Davies from One Tree Hill. She shouldn't have been added. There was a reason she wasn't in the pilot. She saw Peyton liked Lucas and vice versa, went after him anyway, and then made guilt-tripping Peyton her entire personality when two people who clearly had feelings for each other gave into those feelings."
16. "Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother was selfish and immature, and he was constantly trying to push himself and his version of happiness on Robin."
17. "LISA SIMPSON from The Simpsons! Everyone supposedly loves her, but I think she is really annoying and just ruins a lot of the show for me."
18. "Spongebob. I can not stand that character. My daughter, of course, loved the show as a child. That's probably the only show I let her watch alone because I could not handle that thing."
19. And finally: "Monic and Chandler from Friends. Chandler brings out the worst in Monica. As the series goes on, she becomes louder, more whiny, more conceited, and, therefore, more obnoxious. Monica matures Chandler, yes, but she lies to manipulate a woman into letting them adopt her baby...and Chandler goes along with it. If how they first met Erica was posted on AITA on Reddit, people would absolutely berate them."
